Malik Mckoy

….Malik McKoy (b. 1995, Surrey, B.C.) is an emerging, multidisciplinary artist whose practice consists of painting and digital media, creating a visual world that spans across both practices. Having grown up in suburbia, the banality of his personal anecdotes is the superficial layer while something out of the ordinary brews underneath. McKoy is currently based in Montreal pursuing his MFA degree at Concordia University.

McKoy recently exhibited his latest project sixtwosix at Maison de la Culture (Montreal). Recently awarded the Concept to Realization grant from Canada Council for the Arts, he is now working on the second phase of this project. He has previously exhibited at Patel Brown Gallery (Montreal) and Susan Hobbs Gallery (Toronto), among other exhibition venues. Artist residencies include: CO/CREATE (World Creation Studio, Montreal, CA), Hypercity (Long Winter, Toronto, CA), and the RBC Emerging Artist Program (Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa, CA).
